Wintersun es la primera versión y el cuerpo entero de álbum de banda de heavy metal Wintersun. Según Jari Mäenpää, la cubierta refleja el ambiente frío y es de la música del álbum. Asimismo, el hombre en la nieve representa muerte, mientras que la luz detrás de los árboles representa el nacimiento, o la curación. la edición en japonés del álbum fue lanzado con el original tres demostración pistas.
Lanzado el 13 de septiembre de 2004 por la disquera Nuclear Blast.
He aqui una obra maestra de nuestro amado Jari Mäenpää, bueno pues es Jari asi que no hay mucho que decir, no es un buen disco, ES UN DISCO EXCELENTE, OBLIGATORIO TENERLO, aqui Jari madura y explota aun mas sus cualidades como compositor y por supuesto como guitarrista tiene solos que llegan hasta el alma mas dura y corrompida xD. En si en si el disco ya se lleva una mencion Honofirica pero mis canciones favoritas son, Starchild por muchas razones yo la considero la mejor por que esta nos lleva por un viaje de rapido a lento a medio y rapido otra ves unas vocales impresionantes y un solo espectacular, seguido esta Winter Madness esta cancion cuenta con los mejores solos rapidos de Mäenpää la verdad muy recomendable, tambien esta una lenta pero muy muy profunda que es Death And The Healing sin duda una cancion hermosa, con un solo hermoso donde la guitarra incluso parece que llora, tambien entre mis favoritas estan Battle Against Time y Sadness And Hate (bueno de hecho TOOODO el disco me encanta xD lo escucho diario) pero en fin como decia es un disco OBLIGATORIO te gusten o no los guturales quedaras fascinado con el gran trabajo de Jari Mäenpää. Cabe destacar que al contrario de Ensiferum este disco no es un sonido Folk Vikingo, es algo mucho mas melodico y orquestal la verdad muy rico y colorido, la portada del disco lo dice todo escucharlo es como estar perdido en el Blanco desierto de nieve y luego encontrar la luz Sin duda NO SE LO PUEDEN PERDER. Y sin duda lo mas curioso de este disco es que el señor Jari Mäenpää compuso en su totalidad el disco e incluso el se hizo de tocar todos los instrumentos excepto la bateria, sin duda un musico que nunca deja de impresionarme.
